SyncFiddle ("us", "we", or "our") operates the https://syncfiddle.net/ website (hereinafter referred to as the "SyncFiddle", "Website" or "Service").
This page explains what information we collect when you use the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, the terms used here have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service.
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"), such as:
We may also collect information on how the Service is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
The code you write and edit on SyncFiddle ("User Content") is stored on our servers and on the third-party service we use for realtime synchronization (Google Firebase), in order to provide the collaborative editing and code sharing features of the Service.
To keep shared room URLs working, we store the code of a room on our servers and aim to retain it for as long as we reasonably can. However, we do not guarantee that User Content will be retained or remain available, and it may be removed for operational reasons such as storage capacity.
Anyone who knows the URL of a room can view its code, so please do not write passwords, API keys, personal information or any other sensitive data in the editor.
If you would like the code of a specific room to be deleted from our servers, see "Your Choices and Data Deletion" below.
We use cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) to operate the Service and hold certain information.
Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. Local storage is a similar browser feature that allows websites to store data on your device.
Examples of how we use these technologies:
You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service.
SyncFiddle uses the collected data for various purposes:
We use third-party services to provide and improve the Service ("Service Providers"). These third parties have access to the relevant data only to perform tasks on our behalf.
We use Google Firebase (a service provided by Google) for the realtime collaboration features of the Service. The code you write in a shared room and related session information are transmitted to and processed on Firebase servers in order to synchronize them between participants.
For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms web page.
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.
You can opt out of having your activity on the Service made available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
We may display advertisements served by third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense, on some pages of the Service.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting My Ad Center. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
We retain collected data only for as long as it is necessary to provide the Service and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
As described in "User Content (Code)" above, we aim to retain the code of shared rooms for as long as we reasonably can so that shared room URLs keep working, but we do not guarantee retention. You can request deletion of specific rooms at any time (see "Your Choices and Data Deletion" below).
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
Our servers are located in Japan. If you are located outside Japan and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to Japan and process it there. Data processed by our third-party Service Providers (such as Google) may be processed in other countries where those providers operate.
Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
SyncFiddle may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
You can request that we delete data we hold about you, including the code of rooms you have created. To do so, please contact us (see "Contact Us" below) and include the information needed to identify the data, such as the URL of the room. We will respond and remove the data within a reasonable period of time.
Please note that a room may contain contributions from more than one author, and that we are not able to verify who wrote which part of the code. A deletion request for a room therefore applies to the entire content of that room. Depending on the settings and permissions of a room, we may ask for additional information, or may only be able to act on a request from the person who created it.
Data stored in your browser (such as the local backup of your code) can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's cookies and site data for this website.
Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Our Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"), and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from Children. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from Children, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last modified" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also post a notice on the Service (for example, on the News page).
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
